First Day of School

Lily had her first day of Kindergarten today! It was a very excited and much anticipated event. I had to remind her last night before she went to bed that she doesn't have school right in the morning. She doesn't leave until after lunch. I think this helped her to sleep in and take her time in the morning. She was so cute when she asked for her breakfast she said, "Mom, I need lots of energy today, so... no Cinnamon Toast Crunch today. And no candy." What a smart and big girl I have! We cleaned out her drawers and put away some of her smaller clothes to make room for her new school clothes. Then she started getting a bit antsy around 10. So we played Polly Pockets together for an hour and then got ready and had lunch. Isaac was really excited to see the bus. He also had to get his new shoes on and a backpack to match his sister. He is pretty proud of his new Toy Story light-up shoes. We walked down our street to her bus stop and met her friend Roman. She held his hand and got on the bus, and didn't even look back at me. I felt like I was supposed to cry, but luckily I didn't! Isaac kept saying, "I want bus" all the way home and for the next hour!

Report of the first day: She made two new friends, Sara and Emma, and got to sit by Roman and Emma in class.  She also sat by a "big mean boy" that kicked her and she tattled on him to the teacher and he got in trouble.  (oh boy.)  She likes her teacher and recess and playing with the dollhouse.  She said school is not all fun and they didn't get to play for very long.  I guess I forgot to prep her on that... school is not all fun.  All in all, first day seemed to be a big success.  I hope tomorrow goes well for her too and she continues to make friends!

What is a veritable smorgasbord orgasbord orgasbord?

A Fair!

Yesterday we enjoyed a nice day at the fair. No smoking, not too many funny looking hicks, and not too hot (65 when we got there and 78 when we left). The kids got to ride a bunch of rides, Lily was very adventurous and would go on any ride that would allow her height, even if it looked scary to me. She made friends with everyone she got to sit next too, even if they were teenagers. ;) Isaac loved the car, boat (note the covered ears because everyone was ringing their bells really loud!), and motorcycle rides (go figure). Lily and Isaac enjoyed some corndogs and cotton candy too. We saw some little piggie races and got to pet and feed some animals. Isaac was feeding a goat when all the sudden it sneezed right on him. He laughed out loud and then pointed to his face. It had goat snot all over it! It was really disgusting!

Swimming

So we have the last few weeks of summer to fill with fun activities before school starts. Lily was able to take one more session of swim lessons and has GREATLY improved. Here are a couple videos of her swimming across the deep end. She doesn't have perfect form yet, but she can swim the whole length of the pool and is not afraid to jump off the diving board into the deep end. I'm really proud of her.
Swimming Video 1 - This one she had just jumped off the diving board and I missed it. She swam out to her teacher and wanted to keep going to the end.
Swimming Video 2 - This one she started under the diving board and was supposed to swim straight across the pool but got a little crooked. You can see her stroke is a little better until she realized she was going the wrong way. :D
