LA Zoo: lots of funny monkeys, very hot, and where are the elephants?

Saturday was a fun filled day, starting off with a ride on the Historic Griffith Park Merry Go Round (built in 1926). Katie's boyfriend Casey got to spend the day with us too!

Next we went to the LA Zoo. We saw a monkey trying to get leaves from outside his cage, two fat hippos, a long-tongued giraffe, more monkeys, pink shrimp-eating flamingos, and then lots of the monkeys. The chimps were hungry so they kept banging on the door for their food and making loud noises. They would each take a turn and then run away from the door making loud noises that would get all the other chimps running around too, banging on walls and viewing windows. It was pretty funny to watch. It was also a very hot day and it took us a long time to figure out how to get to the elephant's cage.

The Girl also enjoyed making things interesting as we walked in between exhibits. What a super fun day!

Friday Night at the Angel's Game

On Friday night, The Girl got to go to her first Angel's baseball game. She was definitely the cutest Angel's fan there. When we got to the stadium, The Girl pointed out all the A's, saying "A says ahh." A cute cheerleader came and picked The Girl to be spotlighted on the big screen during "smile cam" time. She was also seen on the big screen two more times as they showed shots of the audience. (You can click on any image to see it bigger.)

During the game, The Girl continuously asked for the fireworks, since we told her she would see fireworks after the game. She would say "I never see fireworks," and "I can't want to see fireworks." By the time the fireworks came, after 11 innings and a great Angel victory, The Girl was exhausted. She seemed scared at first but ended up loving them!

Vacation in Southern California

The Girl and I are on vacation in Southern California with T's family. The Girl loves playing with her Grandpa and Grandma, and getting lots of attention from her Aunt Katie.
She got to ride on her daddy's old rocking horse. She smiled perfectly for this picture... what a doll!
She is also quite the multi-tasker when talking to her Daddy on the telephone. She's a silly one!

FUNNY STORY

A Family BLOG! Yes, the perfect place to tell all the funny things that The Girl does! Since I just started this blog, I thought I'd post a funny story about The Girl from a few weeks ago.

The Girl had been playing in the other room by herself when she came in to see me saying "sicker-ette... sicker-ette".

In a little shock, I was like "What's that (Girl)?" Again she said "sicker-ette". I could not believe that she knew what a cigarette was so she must be trying to tell me something else. Then she pointed at her hand and said "sicker-green". On her hand was a little green sticker, and after I looked around more I noticed, she was covered in red stickers... sticker red. "Ah yes, (Girl). Sticker red and sticker green."

Water Girl!

The Girl loves to play in the water. Yesterday she was out playing with T in the front yard, trying to ride her Dora scooter. I guess she got pretty hot and decided to get cool by sticking her feet in the sprinkler, which was watering our dying grass. Next thing you know, she's sitting on the sprinkler and sticking her head in, elbows in, basically anything we ask. We were all laughing about it!

Happy Father's Day! The Girl helped me pick out a new recliner for my dad as a combined gift from all his kids. She was in heaven at the furniture store. The sales man (who has a 3 year old of his own) directed The Girl right to the vibrating recliners.

A two year old could only imagine it: a chair to climb on and it has buttons? Yep... heaven for a 2 year old.

On Father's Day, we got to have my dad and brother over for dinner. While I was finishing preparing it, Phillip played play-doh with The Girl. He was so cute I had to take a picture of them. He taught The Girl how to roll up the dough in her hand to make a snake. After dinner, we all went to the park with The Girl and then played "T-Money" (a game I made for T based on the game Acquire). We all decided to let my dad win. After all, it was Father's Day.
