Trunk or Treating

So this year it is a POLICE theme. Lily wanted to be a Police Officer so we decided that I could make Isaac a cool police car costume out of a cardboard box. Then Caleb became our Prisoner or Inmate.  It was soo cute to watch him walk around with his ball and chain.  I wish I could have found him orange pants.  Oh well.

I'm super happy about how well the police car turned out.  Isaac loves it.  His lights on top are supposed to be for a bicycle.  They have real siren noises too!

Super Capes

I made these adorable capes for my friend's two sons birthday party this past weekend.  They turned out pretty good, a few things I would have done differently IF I ever attempt them again, and due to some non-sleeping issues and procrastination they took longer than expected.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of the boys (email me please!) but here is one of my kids modeling them before we packaged them up.

A New Do

Lily got a hair cut on Saturday and asked for it really really short.  She looks adorable, though I can't stop staring at her because it is soo different.

 

 

Caterpillars and Butterflies

This week in preschool we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Then we made pictures of the caterpillar using tissue paper circles.  It was fun to show the layers of tissue paper and have the kids draw their own legs and hair on their caterpillars.  Lily did this art project in kindergarten and it was so cute I had to repeat it.  Then I had them add the caterpillar's favorite food.

 Last week I had them paint a big sheet with fun textured roller brushes.  Then after they dried I cut out a bunch of butterflies from their paper.  So today they painted a canvas with a bright color and glued their butterflies on with glue dots, bending the wings up a little to give it dimension.   They turned out soo cute!  Some kids put them all into rows and others put them all over their canvas.

Legoland

Last weekend I took the kids to Legoland to meet up with some dear friends from Boise.  Shannon and Courtney and their families were on a weeklong Cali vacation and Legoland was their first stop.  The kids had soo much fun riding the rides and spending time with old friends (that have really grown in just 8 months!)  I couldn't stop smiling the whole trip because it was soo nice to be with them!  Hope more families come down for trips to Vegas or California so I can see them too!   Lanie, Shauna, Kirsti and her boys got to join us at Legoland for more fun with cousins! It was soo fun to see Lanie enjoying the rides with the kids just as much as they were!

 With Shannon and Courtney's family (minus me, Caleb, and the Dads) we filled this whole roller coaster!  Lily and Emma are up in front screaming with glee!

 The kids loved watching the Fire Heroes show.  Isaac was dancing to all the music.  It was just soo adorable!  Here is the video of that!

 After Legoland, Shannon wanted to stop at the beach so we went to the beach right in Carlsbad and let the kids play in the sand. 

 

 It was actually the most relaxing time at the beach.  The kids didn't want to play in the water and the beach was not busy at all.

Caleb did not want to crawl anymore so he was trying to walk in the sand and falling down with each step.
 We stayed until the sun set and you could see the waves glowing as they formed.  It was soo cool.  So glad we were able to spend this time with Shannon and her family and of course my family!

Caleb's Stats

Finally got Caleb in for his 1 year appointment.  Here are his stats:
Weight: 20 lbs 15 oz.      41%
Height: 30.5 in.     71%
Head: 18.75 in.     87%

The doctor said because his head is proportionally bigger than his body he is probably more prone to falling on it.  Hopefully as he gets taller and bigger he will not fall as much. :)  He has been right at the 50% marker for weight since birth but since he is falling I have to start making sure he is getting enough whole milk and other healthy fats into his diet.

He got 4 shots and wasn't too happy about it.  Hope today goes better than yesterday!

More Caleb Birthday

Since we celebrated early, we didn't do much on Caleb's birthday.  He got one more present that came in the mail.  Daddy brought him home a birthday balloon and we went out to dinner.  Then we had some ice cream at home for dessert.  He's such a big boy!  At times I can't believe he is one, and most of the time I think, it's only been one year? Really?  Here are some pics from the day and his actually first birth-day. :)

Some Little Friends

This week I had the privilege of watching some of my friends kids. I am grateful for all my new friends that have helped me out while I've gone to the doctors, school, dentist, etc. so I'm so glad I got to repay some favors this week. It feels so good to know you are helping someone out.  I hope to get to do it again soon.  We had lots of fun with our friends.  Caleb loves having his little friend Oakley over to play.  His face lights up and he giggles and smiles at her.  I think he likes to watch her walk too... maybe pick up a few pointers.

For a little while, I actually had 3 one-year-olds. They played together, surprisingly, well and then Caleb went down for nap and we moved our little party up to the playroom where we could close the door and keep the little ones contained. It was a great excuse to get that room organized again. I'm so thankful for a playroom!

Another morning, Isaac had his friend over who LOVES to play dress up. I just thought it was hilarious that Isaac had to have on "dress up shoes" too (and the only ones we have are girl ones, sorry buddy).
