Hot Sand...Bouree'e!

Read the story below from the beach to understand this funny picture.

Summer Vacation

Thanks Nauna and Bompa for having The Girl, The Boy, and me fly out to visit with you for a week! We had so much fun swimming in your pool, playing lots of games, spending time with Katie and our family, and seeing new Princess movies.

We had a lot of fun at the Aquarium. We watched a 3-D fish movie, fed the Lorikeet birds, touched lots of sting rays, little sharks, and live coral. The Girl really wanted to see "Nemo" the most so luckily they had a large clown fish tank. I loved all the beautiful, HUGE fish tanks.

We also got to go to Laguna Beach for a day. The Girl had a blast playing in the sand and filling up buckets of water from the ocean. She would do the cutest thing when walking across the hot sand. On a "Ballet" themed Little Einsteins, they do a "bourre'e" across the hot sand so The Girl immediately thought she had to do a bourre'e when the sand was hot under her feet. (For those of you unfamiliar with ballet moves... essentially (The Girl's version) a bourre'e is walking on tip toes with your hands over your head.) Someone dug The Girl a large hole and she just had the greatest time playing in it.

The Girl's dreams

Sometimes The Girl says funny things when I wake her up from a nap. Today she said, "Bunny Rabbit. Hop, hop, hop." And smiled at me. Then she said, "Can we go for a walk, mama?" Cute dream, huh?

Photo Update

Here are a few recent photos of The Boy.

Most people take pictures of their newborn babies when they are alert and awake... because it seems to be the rarest. The Boy is quite the opposite. He is usually awake so I like to take pictures of how cute he is when he is asleep. :D

He is starting to smile more, though only giving us a few each day. They are priceless when you get to see them though!

The Girl has been so cute while she is eating that lately T has to go grab the camera. It is usually so hard to get her to eat anything but one night we had spaghetti and she just loved it! Another night we had pizza and she liked sticking her knife in it and eating it upside down.

Here is my husband with his summer buzz cut. (The Girl took the photo.)

My Dancing Princess

The Girl had her last dance class today. We practiced together this week so she could show off her best dancing. First they each did a cute solo performance, which The Girl just jumped and spun around the room, watching herself in the mirror. Then she did a great job on her ballet routine. They do lots of pretend/imaginative play at The Little Gym. The teacher handed the children an "egg" to hold while they did their ballet dance. The Girl was stressin' because she wasn't paying attention when the teacher was handing out the "eggs" so she thought she didn't get one. Quickly the teacher threw her an "egg" just as the music was starting. (Remember this is a pretend egg.) She immediately stopped being sad and started dancing.

Then it was time for the tap performance. The teacher asked everyone to put on their air guitars. We totally practiced this at home. Well, The Girl sat down and said, "I left my guitar at home." She sat on the floor in the middle of the performing class while all the other kids danced their tap routine TWICE. I was pretty sad I didn't get to video her dancing. Lastly she did some things in gymnastics on the bar and balance beam. Then each of the children got a medal. The Girl was pretty excited about that. I'm glad she got to take this class and I'm a bit relieved it is over.

The Girl Talk

M: "What did Heavenly Father give you?"
The Girl: "My mouth. My eyes to see. And my nose to blow."

Aren't we so thankful? :D
