Fall Farm Fun

Today was the last warm day we will see for a long time. We were able to go out to a local farm and have some fun with our good friends, the Walkers (my old college roommate!). Lily loves playing with her friend McKayla! There was so much to do. First the girls flew a kite, because it was sooo windy. Then we played on the pipe slides, had a blast jumping on the bounce pad, rode on the tractor cow train (Lily kept yelling "FASTER" because it was a pretty slow ride), rode on the little pedal cars, played in the "corn box" (like a sand box), watched a pig race, rode ponies, and walked through the corn maze. Here are some pictures to enjoy!

Oh, A Canning We Will Go

That's right, I did canning this week, folks! I actually picked all our grapes, at the right time none the less (as opposed to last year), three full bags! That reminds me of a rhyme...
Melonie, oh Melonie, have you any grapes?
Yes, mum, yes mum, three bags full.
Three for my juicer and into the jars
and plenty on the ground for Isaac's fingers and arms.

Yes, I juiced my green grapes into white grape juice. It has pretty mild flavor so I'm trying to figure out good ways to use it, but at least the grapes didn't go to waste this year, like last year. I canned 21 jars! Funny story: I picked up one of these bags and brought it into the house to dump into the pot and a bee flew out of the bag! Luckily it flew towards the slider so I just had to open it up and shoo it out.

Also, Tommy got a new blackberry... exciting news, I know. Isaac loves to play with his old one and be just like daddy.

A little about Isaac

Have I told you how much Isaac loves to be outside? No matter how cold it is, or if it is raining, that is where he wants to be. I took this video of him playing in the sand box last week, on one of our last semi-warm fall days. It's going to get harder for him to understand that he can't always be outside as winter comes! I actually bought a used bike trailer a few weeks ago and have been enjoying taking Isaac (and sometimes Lily) on bike rides in it. I'll try to get a picture of it for you. This weekend I cleaned out all his baby clothes from his closet. A friend of mine brought over a bunch of 18 mo. boy clothes for him that she was getting rid of. I'm so lucky I didn't have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe! Also, Isaac had his first day in nursery on Sunday. He did super great, played with the kids well and enjoyed singing time and coloring time. He's growing up so fast! He gibber jabbers so much. His favorite real words to say are juice, toothbrush, juice, fish and I think please... though they all sound the same. He also says "hi" and "mama" and "dada" and "i-ee" for Lily. If he hears a dog bark outside, he barks a little "woo woo" and if he hears an airplane go by he points up and gibbers a little. He loves to turn the lights on and off and still gets sooo excited when Daddy comes home from work. He's such a fun kiddo.

Big T, Little t, what begins with T?

Today was letter T day at preschool. Lily wanted to bring her daddy to preschool but daddy convinced her to bring a picture of him instead. He helped her pick out the perfect picture.

Today, after preschool we had her friend Ryan over for lunch. I asked Lily if she wanted a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. She said "yes." Then I asked her to go ask Ryan. She went and said, "Ryan, do you want girl cheese sandwich or boy cheese sandwich for lunch?"

Happy Haunting!

and Happy October! I'm getting excited for Halloween! We are working on figuring out some fun costumes for the kids this year. I think I want Isaac to look like a little man, some profession of some sort. Lily wants to be Cinderella with yellow hair. I'm trying to convince her she can keep her brown hair, but we will just have to see what happens. Lily decorated one of her pumpkins with Sharpie markers (Thanks for the idea, Mom). Lily has been out to the pumpkin patch twice already and I'm sure we will make it out there for our annual family outing in a couple weeks. I don't think it will be complete without Katie here so hopefully she can make the trip up. ;-) hint hint. Here are a few pictures of the kids in their new Halloween shirts I picked up at Target yesterday. Sorry if I beat you to it Shauna. I just couldn't resist!
