Lasik day!

Tommy had Lasik surgery on both his eyes today. I got to watch the whole procedure. It was pretty cool.

Here he is just before... last time wearing his glasses!

Here are some shots just after the surgery. Notice how he is clutching this stuffed fish... he was trying to be all "man" about it when the nurse handed it to him but I think he was glad to have it. During the suction and cutting of the cornea, I saw his feet flex up and the fish got a good, tight hug.

After the surgery the Valium was kicking in and he felt very mellow and calm. He called his mom and his co-worker on the drive home and I was cracking up at him slurring his words and saying silly things. I wish I had recorded it or something. His bug eye shields are soo cool. He gets to wear them all day today and sleep with them all week. Lucky!
No pain, little discomfort, and improved vision already. Sure is amazing! Seems like a great success. We'll see what the doctor thinks in the morning.

Isaac Tantrums & Lily Tape

So, did you know that Isaac likes to throw little tantrums when he doesn't get his way? It is sad but soo cute that I smile most of the time he does it. Classic times: when I take my cell phone away from him, when he wants the water bottle he sees but can't reach, when he wants to crawl around and I'm holding him (usually because he can't crawl around where ever we are), and of course, when he is tired. If I'm holding him he arches his back way back and screams/screeches. If he is on the floor he lays down, usually banging his head on the floor as he does it, and cries. Poor little guy. He is also walking everywhere now. Sometimes he will do this bear crawl thing... especially outside on the grass. It cracks me up.

A new tooth finally broke through! Yeah, a 5th tooth! More to come soon I'm assuming. He also cut his finger and it has been the biggest pain to keep a bandaid on him. I usually find him in his crib with blood on his sheets cause he has ripped his bandaid off and reopened his wound. Anyone use that liquid bandaid on kids?

Isaac is also now bringing me my shoes to put on so we can go outside. It is soo cute. He really likes to play outside, especially climbing up the stairs to the playhouse and talking to me from way up high. Ah yes, he also loves to carry around this cute little purse lily has for her dolls.

Lily is soo creative. She made this "superhero" outfit for her kitty all on her own, with tissue paper and tape. Tape... her favorite "toy". What a character she is!

Isaac is talking with me!

Today I was carrying Isaac and I looked down and saw him signing "more" then he said "Jjjuuu". I said, "more juice?" and he smiled. It was sooo awesome. We communicated! He's been signing "more" for a few weeks now and has been making the "jjjuuu" sound while pushing around his cars (like "Vvvvv" that we do). I guess he finally connected that sound with "juice". :) I'm soo proud!

Dreaming of Cheesecake?

YUMMY. My biggest dessert love... cheesecake. As my friend Rob says, "I've never met a cheesecake I didn't like." I think we will be having cheesecake on Thursday, July 30th... because it is NATIONAL CHEESECAKE DAY! and... for any other cheesecake lovers out there, The Cheesecake Factory will have all their slices at half price! WAHOO!

Enjoy!

New pictures!

Shauna finally got her pictures up on the Wolfe Family Vacations site. More pictures for everyone to enjoy from Sacramento and Lake Powell. Thanks Shauna! Now if only Katie and Randy could get their pictures online. :D

The Lake Powell pictures are from Rick's camera. Some great shots of the house boat and Tom's ski boat. Thanks Rick and Shannon.

Dress-Up Time

Lily and her friends love to play dress up. Thanks Mom for all the great dress up clothes you have made her (She made a wonderful Cinderella dress, Cinderella "rags", and Lily's favorite today: Pocahontas). She loves to dress up like Pocahontas and sing "Just around the river bend" over and over. When she was wearing her Cinderella "rags", I took a picture of her and her friend dressed in Cinderella's dress. Then she ran up stairs and said, "I have to get out of these ugly clothes and get ready for the ball." Oh boy, not that the dress is ugly... I think she was just acting.

Off to change!

Just before they discussed how Lily had on Aurora's shoes.

Isaac in on the action. He loves finding Lily's hats on the floor and putting them on. :) Too cute.

Lily Talk

While picking all the rotten apples off the ground, Lily said, "A worm is my favorite animal in the dirt."

Tommy just came down from where he was supposed to be putting Lily to bed. He said, "I told her she could play one more game of 'Save the Baby'." I said, "With you?" He said, "It's a computer game, I think." I said, "uh, no." Lily then came in the room. Tommy said, "Okay, how do we play save the baby?" Lily took his hand and as they were leaving I heard, "First you get a baby from my room..." Just when he thought he would have a minute to relax...

What goes together better than Sunshine and Oreos?

Isaac and Lily have been playing outside in our blow up pool the past couple of days. Today the water is especially warm (guess it is time to dump out and refill before all the bacteria reproduce too quickly!). Isaac enjoyed his first Oreo cookie today and I finally got a short clip of him walking, in a diaper none the less. Hopefully Tommy can help me get a longer video later. One picture shows Isaac trying hard to fit the pretzel in the opening of his cup. He was concentrating soo hard! It was adorable.

On the way home from Lake Powell we got to stop and visit with my sister who just had her second baby, my newest nephew Brayden. Here is a cute picture of Lily and Isaac and their cousin Trevyn watching for Grandma Tessie to come. And a picture of Lily and I holding sweet little Brayden.

Lake Powell Favorites

1) Being with family and getting to know Randy, the Wrides, and Jack (Lily's new "best friend").
2) Playing tons of games during nap time and after bedtime.
3) Just cruisin' around on the boat all day long, watching others entertain me with their impressive skills. Watching Shauna talk to herself and laugh while she was water skiing, only "in perfect conditions" I might add.
4) Watching Isaac stick his head in this little hole on the boat and fall asleep.
5) Actually getting up on the slalom ski on my first try! It's been two years since I got up last so that was quite the accomplishment for me.
6) Watching Lily wake board with Katie... may be her last year doing it. This was Lily's favorite thing by far.
7) Hiking to Rainbow Bridge (or "Rainbow Rock" as Lily called it) even though it was super hot outside and I got teased about dinosaurs the whole way back.
8) Getting some reading done. I think it took me most of the week to get one chapter read, but that got me hooked.
9) Eating good food after a long day in the sun. Thanks Shauna and Shannon!
10) Our $25 short cut through Zion's National Park on our way out of Lake Powell was actually pretty enjoyable and worth while, just unexpected.

Hard things about Lake Powell:
1) Having kids to entertain, less relaxing.
2) Sleeping with Isaac, my super-light sleeper, instead of my husband.
3) Not much room for Isaac to crawl around. He did get some practice with walking and can now take 10-15 steps on his own. Video to come.
4) Hard to find things to feed Isaac. It was a good thing he drank his "power drinks" every day. A little concoction I came up with: one jar of pureed vegetables, one jar of fruit, and V8 juice Splash. Score!
5) Missing Kirsti! :D
6) Missing sleeping with Tommy (he slept up top with Lily) and sleeping in! Isaac was up at 7 a.m. most mornings.
7) Losing another pair of sunglasses to Lake Powell. Lake Powell - 2, Melonie - 0. Lily also lost her goggles on her second trip down the slide (after conking Shauna in the lip with them the first time... Sorry Fat Lip Shauna). Tommy happened to save Rick's sunglasses once so at least he scored one for the team! Yeah, I really wish Shauna hadn't have drowned Isaac, Lily and me on the tube our first time.
8) Long 12 hour drive there with a one year old that is very busy and doesn't know how to sleep in the car. We even tried Benadryl this time but didn't do much for Isaac. Lily wanted some and was out cold. So silly! Luckily our drive home was broken up into 3 easier legs. So much more relaxing drive home.

Vacation Videos

Here is Lily riding with Katie on her wakeboard. It is kind of a tradition, since we have been doing it for 3 years now. Sorry about the wind sounds, just turn the volume down. She was crying and whining when she got in the water. Katie was brave enough to just deal with her and force her to go. She cried most of the time, but we could tell she had fun. She enjoyed it much more later on and grew to trust Katie. She loved going down out of the wake. She would have done it over and over if Katie wasn't too tired! :D

Tommy did so great on the Wake Surf this year! Many times he was able to let go of the rope for 30-60 seconds! It was so fun to watch him move around but still be able to follow the boat. One time he tried giving Randy a high five. It was really cool to watch. I gave it a try but could never even get up... too many things to hold. Maybe next year.
