On Saturday we went out to the zoo and met my good friend and old college roommate, Lindsey, and her family there. She has a little girl and boy just my kids ages so it is so fun when we can get together. I wish it were more often! We had an easter egg "dash" at the zoo and saw lots of animals. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were happy to have that. The kids had a great time too! Tommy met us later to have dinner. What a great day! This picture cracks me up. Devin taking both our boys down the slide wearing his wife's sunglasses because he forgot his. The boys loved it!
Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess named Lily. She spended her whole time in her castle with her Prince, Isaac. They spended their time having kids. It was really hard work for them. One day they decided to take a walk. So they went out of their castle to the Princess Park. The End.
We had a little party for Lily today with her Princess friends. It was fun but not too over the top. I attempted to make a castle cake, and I'm okay with how it turned out being that it was my first one. Lily loved it and that is all the matters. We played a few "Princess" games, made some beaded crowns, and had some fun outside. It was a great day for outside play. The plastic champagne glasses were a big hit! Lily has such wonderful friends. We are so lucky!
I can't believe it! My little baby turned 5 this week. It has been a fun and busy week and we are looking forward to a party with a few friends tomorrow. Instead of inviting all the kids her age, like I do most years, we are just inviting 5 girl friends for a PRINCESS PARTY. Look forward to that post later this weekend.
Here are some shots from this week... shots... yes, ahem, Lily had to go in first thing on her birthday to get her shots for Kindergarten. She wanted to be so brave. It was cute to see how nervous she was and sad to see how much they hurt. Four shots, two in each leg. At about 3 p.m. they started hurting her really bad and it took an hour or two for the Tylenol to start helping. I had to carry my sweet baby around that night and the next morning she didn't even want to walk. We went into the hot tub to help loosen them up and that seemed to help get her through preschool. What an ordeal! Note to self: Don't take your child into the doctors for shots on their birthday! Dance class was no fun either. Today was a much better day so I'm glad to have my walking girl back. Here is a picture Isaac took at the doctor's office. It was the only thing I had to keep him entertained, since all the doctor's toys weren't working that day. We were lucky to have cupcakes brought to us by our meal group! What a great birthday surprise. :D She was so excited to open presents when her Daddy got home from work. For her main present, I found this great wooden dollhouse on craigslist for only $25 and it included a ton of furniture and a family of four. It needs to be painted over since there are some crayon marks all over the outside, but everything else is in great shape. Here is Lily unwrapping it... nice blanket wrapping job, eh? Isaac was having a hard time with Lily having so many presents to open.
I'm looking forward to "wallpapering" the walls and making some bedding for the beds and stuff. It will be a fun house to grow with her. Her grandparents bought the third story to add to the bottom that Tommy gets to build this weekend. :D So fun! She got some fun dress up clothes... her favorite! My sister Amy made the dress below for Lily. She loves how it sparkles! Great job sis! This was Lily just a few minutes ago. I guess it has been a long week. She was dead asleep. :D
Funny story from earlier today... We were driving in the car and passed a Lowe's. She said, "How come there are two Lowe's in Boise?" I said, "There are lots of Lowe's all over the United States. They build the stores close to the people so that it is easy for them to shop there." "Well that is really nice of them! That is so nice of them to put Lowe's on all the planets." "There aren't any Lowe's on any of the other planets. Just Earth." "Well, what about Jupiter? Aren't there any Lowe's on Jupiter?" "Nope. There are only Lowe's on Earth because there are only people on Earth. There aren't any people on any of the other planets." "Oh. Well I want to live on Jupiter with my family someday." I replied, "Heavenly Father made Earth a special planet for all the people to live on." Aren't we lucky? :D
Here is Lily at her friend's PIRATE party last week. She told me she wants to have a pirate party for her 6th birthday now. Guess it was a lot of fun! I like how Lily got the pirate mustache and none of the other girls did. Here is a video of Lily at dance a few weeks ago. She is learning more and more each week. It is so cool to see her progress.
I can not tell you how glad I am that last week is over!
It started out with Isaac getting a cold/flu. Then Tommy went out of town, not cool for an 8 week pregnant wife that is having more rough days than good days. Then I got the cold/flu. I was pretty much miserable all day and all night. Isaac was waking up every two hours at night and not doing much more than complain and make me hold him all day. We both had a loss in appetite which isn't a good combination for someone who is supposed to be snacking all day to keep the nausea away. Thanks to my great friends and encouraging phone calls from family, somehow I survived the week. Tommy got the cold the same day I did but across the country. I felt so bad for him having to meet with clients and socialize at dinners despite how awful he was feeling. His airplane travels didn't help with his cold but caused him to get an ear infection. He got to come home to a tornado disaster of a house (seriously bad), sick kids, exhausted and sick wife, and did I mention mountains of dishes. He was the best husband ever and did them all last night (even the majority of the hand washed ones!). He's the best ever!
We had a quiet weekend of recovery and are hoping for a happy, healthy week. On to next week's birthday preparations!
Photo time... one day last week, Lily was playing with Isaac in her room while I was resting. After a while, down Isaac comes wearing Lily's Cinderella dress and screeching at her when she tried to put the crown on him. I'm glad when they play so well together but maybe I need to suggest some more gender-neutral activities.
