Sad, Abused Umbrella

We have had this wonderful sand box for over 3 years now. Lily and Isaac both love it, though I pretty much hate the sandy patio it leaves behind. About two years ago I called up Step 2 to order a new umbrella because the old one had started to tear along the edge and wouldn't stay down tight like a cover over the box when it wasn't in use. They were very nice and sent one out to me free of charge. Well, I called again last week and sadly they said they have discontinued this sand box about 2 years ago and have no more umbrellas left. I don't know what we are going to do about it. It is just getting worse and worse the more abused it gets!

Poor umbrella.

Happy Father's Day

Lily and Isaac (and Melonie) had a great time spoiling Tommy with much deserved love on Sunday for Father's Day. He had a meeting after church so we were able to set up lunch and presents on the table for him and Lily made a great sign.

The kids waited as patiently as they could until Daddy came home from church. :D Lily sang "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home" and Isaac made sure to blow him a great big kiss.

Lily picked out a bunch of things to put together in a car washing kit. She also made him a little "daddy's helper" card with a list of things she would help him with, including wash his truck.

Isaac got Tommy some new shorts and belts, that he was in need of.

With the new bed coming this week, I decided to get Tommy a nice memory foam pillow to support his aching neck a little better. He sure loves it! We are so lucky to have Tommy in our family!

Running, Playing and Swimming

Tommy had his office track race last week and he won second place on the 400 yard dash.

Lily raced with the kids and won first place out of the girls (all younger than her though). She was pretty proud of herself.

We played at the splash park last week and the kiddos had a great time splashing around.

Yesterday we went swimming with some friends at their community pool. This is the only picture I took... Isaac floated around the kiddie pool in his yellow baby floater the whole time. Then he came out shivering and curled up in a towel and closed his eyes.

Here is Lily at her swimming lessons...

Lily has been taking swim lessons this week and it is fun to really see her progress a little each day. She is still a "crazy" swimmer, in that she wiggles her whole body around when she is trying to get her arm strokes right. Hopefully another two weeks of lessons will help her gain some correct form. :D Make sure you check out these cute videos on the blog. :D

Boise's Beach

We've had a boring week with rainy weather and Tommy gone on business. Then Tommy got to go on a camp out with some young men this weekend, so the kids and I had another uneventful night to ourselves. I woke up this morning and decided it was sunny and wonderful and we were going to get out and have fun together. So we drove out to a nearby reservoir where at the base of a dam they have a nice little sandy beach and water area for kids to play in. Lily and Isaac had such a great time! I enjoyed soaking up the sun and not having to worry about my kids getting trapped in an ocean current. Lily said she was a little sad there were no sea shells to pick up but she and Isaac had plenty of fun picking up rocks to throw in the water.

Lily is already looking forward to going back there soon. Next time we will need to bring a beach umbrella and a blow up raft with paddles. :D
